Laptops are very important pieces of gadget for many people. Considering the usual cost of a laptop, buying one will always be considered a major purchase. Most laptop owners save vital information in their laptops. For some, it is one of the primary means of communication. Others already have their entire office in their laptops. These are all the reasons why people value their laptop so much.

Here are some tips to help you keep your laptop in the best shape possible, year after year:

1. Vent Cleaning: The vents on your laptop need to be looked at every week to make sure there is nothing blocking them or impeding their performance. You can buy a can of air at a local store and use this to clean them out, as it is best not to poke anything in them.

2. Fan Function: The least that you would want to happen to your laptop is overheating. You always have to make sure that the fan is functioning all the time. Some laptop makers have software that can track laptop temperature for monitoring.

3. Surface: There should never be any obstructions in the air flow of the laptop. Always put the laptop in a hard and flat surface while it is on and running this will make air flow freely from the vents and fans. Do not put your laptop over a pillow or on your lap, this will hinder air flow and there will be a big chance that it will overheat.

4. Storage: Buy a good quality laptop bag or sleeve and store the laptop in this every time you turn it off. This will stop dust from getting into the laptop, as well as protect it from spills, or bumps. Make sure you only store the laptop when it is completely shut down, as putting it in a bag when it is on could make it overheat.

5. Liquids: Any liquids should be kept away from the laptop to avoid mishaps. But if you cannot avoid it just make sure the container you are using will have a cover and cover it all the time.

6. Shocks: Always make sure that your laptop is protected every time you move around. Be gentle in handling your laptop to avoid breaking its spare parts.

7. Humidity: Always keep your laptop in very dry places. Humidity can damage the circuitry and the screen of the laptop.

8. Dust: Properly store your laptop in a bag or sleeve when not in use, this will avoid dust from getting inside the housing. Clean the keyboard and the screen weekly using a micro fiber cloth.

9. Floor- Do not put your laptop on the floor and leaving it there for a couple of hours. Someone might step on it without realizing that it is a laptop.

10. Surge Protectors: Like any other electronic device laptop must be protected from power surge. When charging it will be best to connect the charger in an automatic voltage regulator not just in those wall outlets.

With these tips you can now have the best performance in your laptop.
