Nowadays the overall traveling has increased to a large extent, be it business travel or holiday and vacations. The increasing need for short-term travel arrangements has significantly increased the use of online car bookings. Websites like Hertz and Enterprise even have a section devoted to online car booking. If you are new to this, perhaps the following tips will help you in booking a car online.

Firstly, the rental price is always subjected to change and what you see online is just the price for renting the car, usually displayed as the daily rate. The actual cost is a lot more, considering the fuel charges, insurance and deposits.

Then, if you don’t have comprehensive or at least sufficient vehicle insurance, you must inquire about temporary auto insurance from the car rental company. Different states have different rates for insurance and the tax related to it, but auto insurance is compulsory for rental cars. Knowing that any quoted price will not be the amount you get in your invoice is crucial to avoiding a shock after you reserve the car.

Another factor to consider is your requirement for a particular vehicle type. You can rent out all sorts of vehicles right from the affordable budget cars, to extravagantly expensive sedans. This depends on the occasion, number of people and your budget as well.

A good approach to decide upon the vehicle type is to go for a type which is just higher to the car type that is suitable for your purpose. This way you have a large enough buffer space to accommodate extras just in case. For example, if it’s a standard sized car that you need, it is preferable to choose a slightly higher full sized car.
