Black Tabby farming is just one example of what you would need an alt character for on World of Warcraft, a good class for this activity is a level 21 Hunter because of its tracking skills. But leveling another character can be quite annoying especially if you already have your main character to focus on.

So what can you do, to ease the pain of leveling? Heres a technique that I picked up from Jonathan Kenins of Secret Warcraft. In his Secret Warcraft podcast #4 he talks about a way to make leveling faster by using twinked out white items. You use white items because high quality green, blue, purple items are soulbound, but white items are not. That means you can use your twinked out gear on other characters that you want to level.

The way you can go about doing this is to buy white items in the auction house, and use some fairly powerful enchants on them, you dont have to use the best enchants (even if you have the money for it) because it simply is not worth it. All you need to do is to make some white leveling gear sets for your alts, or future alts that you want to create.

A good enchant to use – especially on slow low level characters who do not have the benefit of a mount yet is Enchant Boots: Minor Speed. This enchant increases your character’s speed by 8% that’s a huge bonus, considering you would only be using normal boots otherwise. The +8% bonus will make your leveling and your questing way faster.

Another example is Calico Bracers, these are cloth bracers with 9 armor rating. Simply enchant it with Enchant Bracer: Greater Intellect, and you get wrist armor that has +7 INT and will be very useful to any low level character of yours that uses intellect. Its way better than green items like Greenweave Bracers of Intellect. A level 16 item thats Bind on Equip and has 15 armor and +3 INT.

Good leveling gear is essential to get your low level characters up the level ladder quickly. By using enchanted white gear you’ll be able to do your quests without a problem, so it’s very, very, convenient. The other good thing about this is that as they are not soulbound, you can pass it along to friends and guildmates to help them out with leveling their characters, especially if they’re new on World Of Warcraft.
