A computer that is acting funny is no laughing matter. There is no humor in having a computer crash without being able to save what you have just worked on. Of course, few people burst out laughing when they have a computer that is outright slow either. If these things hit home with you, follow along with this article and maybe your computer will be a joy to operate once again.

Our first area of concern is parasites. Spyware, and to lesser extent adware, can not only cause your computer to misbehave, but they can follow you as you surf the Internet and copy your banking information. Viruses, which are an entirely different thing than spyware can harm your operating system so badly, you will need to do a reformat to use your computer again.

Get Rid of Viruses First

First, Clean Out the Viruses First of all, lets see if there are any viruses present on your hard drive. Run your virus scanner. If it happens you don’t have one or you think yours might be sleeping on the job, search one of the search engines for a free virus scan. You will find plenty of offers. Run one of these and see what, if anything turns up. If anything does turn up, and you took the free scan deal, you will have to pay to make the virus scanner yours so you can remove the virus or viruses.

If the virus scan finds nothing or you have a virus removal tool remove viruses, do a spyware scan. Once again, if you don’t have one, do a Google search for “best antispyware free scan.” You will find a good free antispyware scan on the page that comes up.

Making Sure We Clear All Problems

It is nice to be able to get a free spyware scan, but don’t confuse this with a free spyware cleaner. Free spyware cleaners can cause more problems than they correct. A good free scanner requires a payment to activate its cleaning function. So, if your free scan uncovers spyware or adware, you need to essentially buy the spyware cleaner. This, in my opinion is dirt cheap compared to the financial horrors spyware could cause a person.

Were almost there! Next, do a registry scan on your computer. If you don’t have a registry cleaner do a Google search for “Windows Registry Cleaner.” You will find free scan offers on the page that comes up. Once again, if you need to buy a registry cleaner don’t hesitate. Just don’t fool around with anything that refers to itself as a “Free Registry Cleaner,” they will do more harm than good!

Registry Corruption Simply Must Go!

In the last couple of years, registry corruption has become a very big problem for PC owners. Windows XP and Vista registries become corrupted very easily. Because of this, many people have decided to install a good registry cleaner on their computers. This is a great choice because registry corruption will cause a computer to be slow and error prone. So, many computer owners have literally resurrected their PCs by cleaning their registries.

If you followed along with the procedure in this article, your computer should be back up to speed and running well again. However, even if no improvement is apparent in your computer, you took care of some things that were working against it.

If you are still experiencing problems, open up your task manager and see exactly what is using your resources. I have seen cases where a virus scanner itself was a huge resource hog. I always advise my customers to close such programs until they are needed. If you dont find a problem in the task manager, unfortunately, there are internal problems with the computer and it needs to be troubleshot in hands on fashion.
