Techie Stuff Explained

Any business that doesn’t want to be a laughing stock needs to invest in a reliable machine that will send faxes to clients and other businesses; it’s just impossible to be taken seriously otherwise, no matter how uncommon faxes seem to be these days. When you decide on a fax machine, Sharp (a company that makes electronics and appliances) has many models that run the gamut on printer technology-from thermal transfer to copier toner. Check out Sharp UX 1300 toner.

How your machines prints to paper will greatly affect it’s beneficial use to you and how much it will cost you. Many faxes used to use thermal transfer rolls for printing faxes (like Sharp’s UX 1300). These use heat to transfer a scanned image and print it on a piece of paper. These are still around, but the quality of the print may not be to your liking (or it may be weird to install rolls of into a machine instead of a cartridge of ink or toner).

Inkjet fax machines do exist, and can produce quality similar to what you would expect from any Inkjet printer. Although one should take note that an Inkjet fax designed simply for faxes might not be best for printing photos. Many Inkjet printers also have fax (and scanner) functions as well. Sharp offers the UX-B20 fax, which is a dedicated fax that uses Inkjet ink for toner.

Laser machines are often considered to be the best way to print on paper. They use those toners and drums like those regular copiers do. Laser machines tend to be much more expensive, however, and are not always the choice for home or small business. They are also very expensive for color copies, compared to Inkjet printers. Since they are more expensive, make sure you get a nice one that will have all the functionality of your main printing source if you get one of these.

When choosing a fax machine or any printing device, be sure to look at how much the toner will cost you. Thermal transfer replacement toner can be found for the UX 1300 for just over $35, for example. Since this technology isn’t as popular anymore, it may get more difficult to find these types of toners lying around office supply stores. It printed about 510 pages on a full roll.

Inkjet ink cartridges are also pretty cheap. I saw a cartridge for Sharp’s UXB20 sell online for 36.99?”the exact same price as the thermal roll. The only advantage I think the thermal roll had to the cartridge was that the Inkjet ink printed a “max” of 500 pages?”a small price to pay for a better printer, in my opinion.

Laser printers can be more expensive. These Sharp UX 1300 toner for Sharp laser copiers can cost from 60 to 100s of dollars, but the number of pages you will be able to print will be in the thousands. The toner might be cheaper when you factor that in, but it will still be a more expensive investment, at least from the start.
