Reliable web hosts aren’t as easy to find as you might imagine. There is considerable competition out there with an increasing amount of web hosts, and resellers who all claim to give the consumer upwards of 99% uptime. For any website, reliable web hosting is incredibly important. It can mean the difference between a frequently returning visitor and one who doesn’t bother at all.

The ultra-clever search engines today will impact a sites rating, a low rating will send customers looking for good service elsewhere.

What’s the significance of having a web host that is dependable? One reason that comes to mind immediately is your own inner serenity. Unreliable service makes it extremely difficult to built websites, upload content, or make changes. Discriminating consumers expect flawless service and won’t settle for anything less. Entire businesses have been lost due to the same thing, and it is the kind of problem which must be addressed immediately once you become aware that you have it.

When does it become necessary to have one? It’s very important if you want people to view your website. The new methods used by search engines today mean that reports are generated every time a URL is not accessible, and this can result in a drop in search engine rankings after a certain period of time.

If your company includes a significant web presence, you must have a good hosting service. In todays market you need to have at least 99% uptime, there are some companies that even exceed this.

Picture this: if you have 20% downtime, this means you are loosing up to 20% of potential customers. This is affecting your earning ability, thus losing you potential revenue. As with any employee, the webhost should not make you lose money!

Is there a way I can check to see if my webhost is the best one for my needs? You don’t, not at first. There are many methods that can be used to find out their reliability. The free tools on the internet that are used to monitor up and downtime are becomming more popular in the search for the top search engine.

Many now realize that it is essential to minimize server downtime ,if you get poor communication from the webhost you use, tools like these could be a lifesaver. A responsible, bona fide webhost will most probably inform you in advance of possible problems or planned downtime either via email or a portal on its own website. Beware of webhosts who hide performance information as they are afraid that they will scare off potential customers.
