The Lexmark s 1625 printer is a generally good quality laser printer from a well-respected leader in the industry that was listed 5th in Fortune Magazine’s list of America’s most admired companies for computer peripherals. Nearly twenty years after the company separated from IBM, it now makes about 5 billion dollars in revenue every year and it is now very common to see their products throughout offices around the US and the world–about half of their revenue comes from outside the United States. The are also the makers of the Lexmark S 1625 toner.

The Lexmark s 1625 is a black and white laser printer made with the small business user in mind. It can take and withstand the output of a business. In fact, it has a duty cycle of up to 65,000 pages per month. Some huge operations might tax this limit, but this will be more than adequate for the small business owner.

It is also not too bulky and heavy. Some printers made today will be lighter or even smaller, but this Lexmark 1625 won’t be a burden to move around the office when it needs to move location. It is just over a foot wide and tall, with a depth of just over 19 inches.

The print quality is also clean and dependable. It has a max DPI (dots per inch) of 1200, which is more than enough for most business applications (in fact, you will probably be using it at a lower resolution). The laser printing of this printer will also be far superior to your current printer if you are still using Inkjet technology, and you’re letters and documents will look more professional.

This printer is not an extremely fast printer, however. It is rated to print at 16 pages per minute. If you are printing long documents and work on a very hectic schedule, then this printer may seem to slow you down. Most small business users who use the printer to print letters and small presentations will find the printer speed adequate for their needs. Another thing to consider that it’s limited to standard-sized paper.

The price of this printer is decent as well, and is in line with the features that the printer offers. Since the model is discontinued, they can be found refurbished at about 250 dollars online, but it is still a reliable product. People have reported great images with little jagged edges and a very good paper feed system that avoids jams.

There are two types of toner available for this printer: the normal version and the high-capacity improved version. The high-capacity prints more than twice as many pages before running dry than the regular kind–in fact, the high capacity Lexmark S 1625 toner will print 17,500 pages compared to the 7,500 page capacity of the standard cartridge. If you consider the capacity, the high-capacity version isn’t much more expensive so you may want that if you plan to be using this printer frequently.
