If you’re reading this it’s possible that either you’re considering a career change into IT and you’ve heard good things about MCSE’s, or you’re currently an IT professional and you’re aware that you need the MCSE accreditation.

When looking into computer training companies, don’t use any that cut costs by failing to up-grade to the most up-to-date Microsoft version. Over time, this will end up costing the student a lot more as they will have been educated in an old version of MCSE which inevitably will have to be up-dated very quickly.

Training colleges must be devoted to offering the correct route for their clients. Educational direction is as much concerned with guiding people on establishing which direction to go in, as it is giving them help to reach their destination.

Starting from the viewpoint that it makes sense to find the employment that excites us first and foremost, before we can consider which career development program would meet that requirement, how do we decide on the right path?

Consequently, without any experience in the IT market, how could you possibly know what someone in a particular field spends their day doing? And of course decide on which accreditation path is the most likely for your success.

Reflection on these different issues is vital when you want to uncover the right solution that will work for you:

* Your hobbies and interests - as they can highlight what areas will provide a happy working life.

* Do you hope to achieve a key objective - like working for yourself as quickly as possible?

* How highly do you rate salary - is it very important, or does job satisfaction rate higher up on your priority-list?

* With so many areas to train for in Information Technology - you will have to achieve a basic understanding of what separates them.

* Taking a proper look into the effort, commitment and time you can give.

For most of us, sifting through each of these concepts tends to require the help of an experienced pro that knows what they’re talking about. And we don’t just mean the accreditations - but also the commercial requirements besides.

Incorporating examinations as an inclusive element of the package price then including an exam guarantee is a popular marketing tool with many companies. But look at the facts:

Obviously it’s not free - you are paying for it - it’s just been included in your package price.

For those who want to pass in one, then you should avoid exam guarantees and pay when entering exams, prioritise it appropriately and be ready for the task.

Take your exams as locally as possible and find the best deal for you at the time.

Why borrow the money or pay in advance (plus interest of course) on exams when you don’t need to? A lot of profit is made because training colleges are getting money in early for exam fees - and then cashing in when they’re not all taken.

Additionally, exam guarantees often have very little value. The majority of organisations won’t be prepared to pay again for an exam until you can prove to them you’re ready to pass.

With average prices for VUE and Pro-metric tests costing in the region of 112 pounds in this country, the most cost-effective way to cover the cost is by paying when you need them. It’s not in the student’s interests to fork out hundreds or thousands of pounds for exams when enrolling on a course. A commitment to studying and the use of authorised exam preparation tools are actually the key to your success.

Most commercial training providers will only provide basic 9am till 6pm support (maybe a little earlier or later on certain days); very few go late in the evening or at weekends.

Find a good quality service with help available at any time of the day or night (no matter if it’s in the middle of the night on a weekend!) Ensure you get direct-access to qualified mentors and tutors, and not a call-centre that will take messages so you’re constantly waiting for a call-back - probably during office hours.

As long as you look hard, you will find the top providers who offer direct-access online support all the time - even in the middle of the night.

If you accept anything less than direct-access round-the-clock support, you’ll very quickly realise that you’ve made a mistake. You may avoid using the support late in the night, but consider weekends, evenings and early mornings at some point.

It would be wonderful to believe that our jobs are safe and our future is protected, however, the truth for the majority of jobs in the UK today is that security may be a thing of the past.

We can however discover market-level security, by looking for areas that have high demand, tied with shortages of trained staff.

The most recent UK e-Skills investigation demonstrated that 26 percent of computing and IT jobs haven’t been filled mainly due to an appallingly low number of properly qualified workers. Showing that for every 4 jobs existing throughout the computer industry, we’ve only got three properly trained pro’s to do them.

This one concept in itself shows why the UK desperately needs considerably more trainees to become part of the IT sector.

With the market increasing at such a speed, could there honestly be a better market worth taking into account for a new future.

The way in which your courseware is broken down for you can often be overlooked. How is the courseware broken down? And in what order and at what speed is it delivered?

A release of your materials one piece at a time, as you complete each module is how things will normally arrive. Of course, this sounds sensible, but you must understand the following:

Many students find that the company’s ’standard’ path of training doesn’t suit. It’s often the case that varying the order of study will be far more suitable. And what happens if they don’t finish at the pace they expect?

For maximum flexibility and safety, it’s not unusual for students to make sure that every element of their training is delivered immediately, and not in stages. It’s then up to you at what speed and in which order you’d like to work.
