Internet conference call is the rage these days. What are these and how can this be of any help to you when calling a friend, a family member or a business associate? Here are some advantages you may want to know.

It is cheap.

Cost is always a major factor in everything. In the aspect of conference calling, this is an even more significant concern. After all, you are using it precisely because you want to cut the cost of having to call or meet people individually. Telephone conferencing can already help you save a lot. Thanks to the internet though, you have the opportunity to save even more.

How is web conferencing done? Web conferencing can be accomplished through VoIP. This is otherwise known as Voice over Internet Protocol. VoIP works by sending audio information in the form of digital packets across the internet. These packets look for the shortest route to their recipients where they are converted back to audio signals. Compared to telephone technology that relies on expensive circuit switching, VoIP technology is cheaper.

VoIP is so cheap that companies may even offer it for free. A free internet conference call however may only be a good idea if you are calling a limited number of people for a short period of time. If you own a business though, you may need to engage in conference calling more often with a great number of people. In this case, you may want to consider more reliable and more flexible paid service providers.

You can choose from several options.

The most common option is audio conferencing. All you need is a computer, internet connection, speakers and a microphone. There are now however, two other features in web conferencing that you can take advantage of.

Then, there is also integrated video conferencing. Using the same platform and provider, you can choose to see who you are talking to online. That is not all you can look forward to. Depending on your service provider, a third feature option will allow you to send documents, to text chat with participants and to share desktops. If you run a business and need reports in real time, this is the most ideal option.

Internet conference call is accessible.

Web conferencing eliminates the limits of telephone technology. Some places do not have reliable telephone lines or phone conferencing capabilities. The internet however is available in a lot of places because of satellite technology. When no phones are in sight and you need to conduct a conference, the internet may be your best option.

Does it even have a downside? Internet technology however is clearly on a perpetual advance. It is apparently here to stay and will always be open for improvement. Although it has not replaced traditional methods yet, better and more reliable web conferencing is the future.
